July 5, 2001 - California and Nevadas blackouts; The real cause.

After first hearing reports that the rolling blackouts in California and Nevada might not be caused by the lack of available power, Jumpgate thought this to be worthy of investigation.

While we were in the area, we decided to look into some information that we had received from one of our sources. We received a report that a major break-through had been achieved with a captured spacecraft (we aren't sure which alien species it belongs to though). For nearly a decade, American shadow government's black projects directorate has been hard at work attempting to duplicate the power source in the spacecraft.

We began to suspect the two were linked when we obtained satellite photographs revealed a recently constructed set of power lines running to a secret base deep in the Nevada mountains.

After reviewing power generation and consumption figures for the states of California and Nevada, we saw that they were roughly equal, when the outside sources of power that the states purchase power from are factored in.

Therefore, there had to be a large unaccounted for drain on the power supply. After speaking to a contact in Ontario Hydro about the capacity of the new power lines that had been installed to the base, it was determined that the new lines carried roughly the same amount of power as was missing from the two states power supplies.

The difficult part is linking the two - access to or monitoring of the base is quite impossible. Sensors, video cameras and the like that we hid in the area vanished within half an hour of being carefully hidden.

After some thought, it occurred to us that it might be possible to monitor the amount of power flowing through the power lines. After a few days of monitoring, our suspicions were confirmed. The rolling blackouts throughout California and Nevada were timed with the peak usage of power at the base.

After some thought, we contacted our source within "The Resistance" (we'd really like to know what they are resisting, but they won't tell). They managed to get some access to the site (likely through inside sources of their own), and confirmed that the extra power was being used to replace the power source in "Vehicle 1957C".

The source said that a very complicated system had been set up to interface the power with the spacecraft, because the original power source looked very much like four D batteries, and channeling that kind of power into that small of a space have been quite the engineering challenge.

Our source also said that although the spacecraft is receiving power, and while some of its systems are active, many were still damaged. Until the damage is completely repaired, the spacecraft will be unable to support flight operations. After some digging in the bases computer system, it would appear that the spacecraft had been shot down in the summer of 1957 by an Air Force F-89J with a Genie nuclear rocket over the Yucca Flats/Las Vegas area. The Genie nuclear rocket was originally developed to counter Soviet bombers with an unguided 2.5 kiloton nuclear warhead.

Interestingly, after reports of a small nuclear explosion circulated, the Air Force announced that a new series of nuclear weapons tests code named "Plumbob". It would appear that the US Air Force started a series of expensive warhead tests to cover up the acquisition of another spacecraft. We have been unable to ascertain what happened to the original crew of "Vehicle 1957C".

We have forwarded the information that we have gathered to the appropriate authorities in the US, but we suspect that allies of the shadow military will intercept the information and try to bury it. Hence, it is presented here for all to see.

So good citizens of California and Nevada, your rolling black outs are due to your government's secret research on a downed alien spacecraft.
